Managing References with the Quarantine Feature
The Quarantine provides a safe location to store references that you have removed from your Project (such as duplicates), along with all associated reviewer data. The full reference, including all metadata and response sets, can be recovered and added back to your Project at any time.
Quarantining References
There are two methods for sending references to the Quarantine: individually or in bulk.
To Quarantine a Single Reference
-
From the top menu, go to References > Edit References.
-
Search for and locate the specific reference you want to place in Quarantine.
-
Click the Quarantine Reference button below the reference details.
-
In the popup window, input the reason you are quarantining the reference.
-
Click Confirm.
To Quarantine References in Bulk
-
Go to Reports > Datarama and generate a report that includes the references you wish to quarantine.
-
Below the generated report, click the Quarantine ## References button.
-
Enter a reason for quarantining the references.
-
Click Confirm.
Returning References from the Quarantine
References can be recovered from the Quarantine and returned to your Project at any time.
-
From the top menu, go to References > Quarantine.
-
Locate the reference(s) you wish to retrieve by using the search box or sorting any of the columns.
-
Select the references you want to bring back by checking the Checkbox next to each one.
-
Click Return X References to Project. All selected references and their associated response sets will be added back to your Project.
Quarantine Viewing Elements
The Quarantine screen displays the following information for each stored reference:
You can also click Download Quarantine in CSV to get a file containing the list of references, with options to name the file and specify the bibliographic format.
Important Restrictions
The system enforces strict rules to prevent data duplication:
-
A reference cannot be sent to the Quarantine if a reference with a matching RefID already exists in the Quarantine.
-
A reference cannot be restored from the Quarantine back into your Project if a reference with a matching RefID already exists in the Project.
-
A highlighted reference in the Quarantine list indicates that it cannot be brought back into the Project because a matching RefID is already present in the active Project.
