When assigning a reviewer to specifically resolve conflicts in your Project, they can go through the Reference Status Report and click on the number in the "Conflicts" column and work through each conflict in Datarama. However, this method isn't very integrated into the workflow.
In order to add a conflict resolution step into your workflow, the Form and Level Settings must be modified in your workflow.
Essentially, you would have three Levels - a Title Screen, Conflict Screen, and Abstract Screen Level. Similarly-named Forms with your screening questions sit in these Levels.
The following modifications must be made to each Level or Form:
- In Level Settings for the Title Screen Level - set your "Disagreement Result" to "Include" and Save, and ensure "Users Needed to Process/Exclude" is set to 2.
- In Level Settings for the Conflict Screen Level - set "References Can Skip This Level" to "Yes". Additionally, set your "Users Needed to Process/Exclude" to 1, as only 1 reviewer will be resolving conflicts. Ensure they are also assigned as a reviewer.
- In Form Settings for the Conflict Screening Form - set "Optional Form" to "No". At the Filter option, click Add Filter and create a Question/Answer Filter for the Title Screen Level, Title Screening Form, the Screening Question, and select your exclusion answer (most often this will be either No/Exclude). Click Add/Update.
- Your Abstract Screening Level and Form can have any desired configurations.
What this workflow does is allows both Includes and In-Conflict references to be "Included" - however, the true includes (both reviewers answered Yes/Include) skip the Conflict Screen Level and move to Abstract Screen (due to the option to skip a Level). The In-Conflict References are caught by the Form Filter in the Conflict Screen Level (one person answered Yes, another No) so the No answer is caught by the Filter and the reviewer will either select Yes to Include it, moving it to the Abstract Screening Level, or Exclude it fully at the Conflict Screening Level.
