What is API?
API stands for Application Programming Interface. In basic terms, API allows applications to interact with each other without human intervention. Calling the API can send information to DistillerSR or retrieve data from DistillerSR, and it can be built into your application or website.
Benefits of DistillerSR API
DistillerSR API offers time-saving benefits by automatically pulling reports from DistillerSR and into your other tools. This is particularly useful if you run reports on a scheduled basis. Rather than running that report manually multiple times a week, that process can be automated. Additionally, you can automatically import references from reference management databases instead of searching for and importing individual references.
How DistillerSR API Works
With DistillerSR API, you can set up your reporting systems to pull Datarama reports directly into your systems. The API can also automate adding new references (with or without response sets) from other applications or repositories, as well as adding attachments and Tags to references.
The following examples demonstrate how DistillerSR API helps teams stay updated about critical information. In these examples, the API helps automate:
- Importing references
- Exporting critical results from projects
Example 1
- Librarian/search team adds search to reference management database.
- API automatically imports references to DistillerSR.
- References are reviewed in DistillerSR.
- API automatically exports extracted data to analysis software.
- Dashboard automatically updated to providing instant insights.
Example 2
- Librarian/search team adds search to reference management database.
- API automatically imports references to DistillerSR.
- References are reviewed in DistillerSR.
- API automatically exports extracted results to safety database.
- Safety database is always current for regulatory submissions.
DistillerSR API is available to all Enterprise accounts, and as an Add-On feature for Professional accounts. This feature is designed for technical users, and documentation for implementation is available via the DistillerSR User Guide. The DistillerSR Professional Services team can consult with you to determine how best to leverage DistillerSR API for your needs.
