In the DistillerSR Project Settings, you can configure how references should be identified when exported to CuratorCR Repositories. The PMID, DOI, and Unique Identifier can be selected in the Identifier Mappings section, and will be the basis of how references (and associated response sets) are stored in CuratorCR.
When references are exported to CuratorCR, the PMID, DOI, and the title of the reference are all considered when creating a unique ID for each reference.
There are some unique cases to consider which may affect how references are stored based on their identifiers. This can result in duplicates of references in your Repositories.
Case 1
RefID 1 | PMID, no DOI, same title as RefID 2 |
RefID 2 | No PMID, DOI, same title as RefID 1 |
RefID 3 | No PMID, no DOI, same title as RefID 1 and 2 |
Result: When all three references are exported, the result is 1 reference in CuratorCR.
Case 2
RefID 1 | PMID, no DOI, same title as RefID 2 |
RefID 2 | No PMID, DOI, same title as RefID 1 |
RefID 3 | No PMID, no DOI, unique title |
Result: When all three references are exported, the result is 2 references in CuratorCR (RefID 2 and RefID 3).
Case 3
RefID 1 | PMID, DOI, unique title |
RefID 2 | No PMID, DOI, unique title |
Result: When both references are exported, the result is 1 reference in CuratorCR combining the PMID, DOI, and unique ID.
Case 4
RefID 1 | PMID, DOI, same title as RefID 2 |
RefID 2 | No PMID, DOI, same title as RefID 1 |
Result: When both references are exported, the result is 1 reference in CuratorCR combining the PMID, DOI, and unique ID.
